Shopping!

Michele B – who we now refer to as Shelly, so as not to confuse with innkeeper Michele (on left) and Lucy Simotes at Bed Bath and Beyond last week, shopping for bedding amenities and other goodies for the upgraded rooms. Yes, that long piece of paper she is holding is the receipt from the cash register – $3000 will buy you a 7 feet receipt!

So nice to meet you!

By now you’ve heard the big news — we’ve bought the Gateways Inn! Since there are so many of you that we haven’t yet had the pleasure to meet, please visit the “Meet our Innkeepers” page on our website to learn a little about us and our family.

It has barely been six weeks since we took over this beautiful Inn in the heart of Lenox, and already things are happening at a fast pace. We’ve begun upgrading both the general areas and the rooms to enable our guests the finest hospitality experience that we can. So, in the rooms you will be seeing large screen, flat paneled TV’s, new sheets and towels, and even rubber ducks in the baths. Most of the rooms now have a small refrigerator and Keurig coffee machine for the comfort of our guests, so no more having to get dressed for that early morning, pre-breakfast coffee! We have also updated the guest lounge and the lobby to make them more welcoming, and painted the dining rooms a soothing mochachino cream color.

Our  journey has just begun and we have so many other exciting things to look forward to — including meeting you on your next stay at the Gateways. Reservations for the summer are almost full, so if you plan to visit Lenox, do not delay! In the meantime, please keep in touch via this blog, Facebook, or sign up to join our email list. We would love to hear from you, and look forward to meeting you in person one day soon!

Lenox Wedding Planner Event lands at Gateways!

Wow. What a busy few weeks we’ve been having! Last week we hosted a wonderful DINE meeting, and simultaneously we were participating in the Lenox Wedding Planner Event. This event brought in wedding planners from around the area (and even further!) to showcase why Lenox is the perfect location for a New England wedding (which we already knew, of course!). We were so excited to be a part of the event to showcase our town. Our favorite day was the Table Design Challenge — as you can see below we had two very talented wedding planners design their interpretation of the “inspiration invitation.”  In order of appearance below, Rudy Grant of Experience and Creative Design and Cassandre Snyder of Cassandre Snyder Events both decorated a space in our main dining room and the results were breathtaking. Many thanks to photographer Tricia McCormack of Tricia McCormack Photography who captured the day beautifully! Enjoy her photos below and get whisked away in the beauty of it all….

It’s still Fall! Even if it doesn’t look it….

These pictures are just from a couple of weeks ago, and already they feel like “last season”. But, it’s still Fall so we’re going to share them anyhow… We don’t want to rush things, right?

A few housekeeping notes….

Well, as most of you know, New England got its first taste of Winter a little early this year… While we love our New England weather, we weren’t quite ready for snow yet! That being said, we’re happy to report that our only inconvenience is that our phones are still out. They should be back up and running by tomorrow or Thursday, but in the meantime, please email us at innkeeper@gatewaysinn.com to keep in touch.

Another important note is regarding our Single Malt Scotch Pairing Dinner Featuring Glenfiddich — this event was cancelled due to the storm, but we are happy to report that we have rescheduled for Saturday, November 12, 2011. Please email us for more information or reservations! We’re looking forward to seeing  you all!

Stay safe and warm!

Have your holiday party at La Terrazza!

The holidays are quickly approaching (so fast!) so now is the time to start thinking about spreading some holiday cheer with co-workers, family, or friends. Give us a call at (888) 492-9466 to see how we can help you plan the perfect celebration!

You’ll want to visit Whitneys!

If you’re planning to visit Lenox this fall, make some time to stop by Whitney’s Farm in Cheshire. We just visited in time for Pumpkin season, as you can see below. They also are currently picking their own tomatoes, broccoli, green peppers, cabbage, cauliflower & fall squash. Also, native apples: Gala, Ginger Gold, Macouns, Cortland, Macintosh & Honey Crisp! Yum!! Not to be missed during this fall harvest season!

‘Tis the Season for Apples!

What would Fall be without apples? Especially those fresh from the tree. Well, just a few weeks ago the Lenox Chamber of Commerce had their 32nd Annual Apple Squeeze: a harvest festival filled with crafts, food and festivities. And Rosemary was honored to be asked to judge their Apple Pie Contest! It was a lovely afternoon, and the pies were delicious! Can’t wait for next year’s event, and in the meantime we’ll be inspired to go home and cook some apple recipes of our own…
