5th Annual Memorial Day Marathon Races | May 25th

Running enthusiasts will have no problem finding out what to do in the Berkshires this summer.  Now in its 5th year, the Berkshires Memorial Day Marathon races provide the perfect kick off to summer. Races include the Marathon, Half Marathon, Tanglewood 10k, Tanglewood 15k, a 15k Trail Race, and the Trail-Road Challenge.


SummerSound Live @ Tanglewood | May 25th

After the races at the Berkshires Memorial Day Marathon, SummerSound presents a lineup of local and regional performers on the grounds of Tanglewood.  Racers get in free, but tickets are available for purchase for those who did not participate in the Marathon. Performances start at noon and go until 5 pm. This year’s lineup includes Adam Ezra Group, The Interlopers, Heather Maloney and Skyfactor.  Great food and beverages will be available from local favorites like Big Elm Brewing and SoCo Creamery.


Berkshire International Film Festival | May 29th – June 1st

This world-class festival showcases great independent film and champions the efforts of local filmmakers.  Screening of independent features, shorts, and documentaries are often accompanied by panel discussions with those involved in film production.  If you’re a film lover wondering what to do in the Berkshires, mark your calendar for this event.


Berkshire Cycling Classic | June 14th

For the third year, the Berkshire Cycling Classic will take place in Lenox.  There is an 81-mile Gran Fondo racecourse for a European-style race as well as six USA Cycling categories. The Gateways offers special deals for riders and their families. Call for details. (413) 637-2532


13th Annual Berkshires Arts Festival | July 4th – July 6th

Celebrating its 13th year the Berkshires Arts Festival  brings thousands of arts enthusiasts to the area each year.  It is in part because of the festival that the Berkshires have become a premier art and cultural destination. High profile artists from the US and Canada come to the Berskshires Arts Festival to show and sell their work.  Visitors will be exposed to fine art, crafts, jewelry, furnishings, music and dance.  The Berkshires Arts Festival is held at Ski Butternut in Great Barrington.


Performances by Shakespeare & Company | May – August

Theatre lovers will be thrilled with options of what to do in the Berkshires this summer.  Shakespeare & Company will present a special “bare Bard” version of Shakespeare’s tragic love story, Romeo and Juliet at The Mount.  This pared down performance will be presented in 90 minutes and feature only six actors performing all roles. Shakespeare & Company also has a schedule full of amazing performances all summer long at other venues including A Midsummer Night’s Deam, Shakespeare’s Will, Julius Caesar, and much more. Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival | June – August

Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival  has been called the “dance center of the nation” by the New York Times is the longest running event of its kind in America.  Jacob’s Pillow has been named a National Historic Landmark due to the cultural impact and legacy of the festival.  Throughout the months of June and August, visitors can enjoy over 350 performances, talks, films, classes, exhibits, tours and events featuring more than 50 dance companies from around the world.  For dance lovers wondering what to do in the Berkshires this summer, attending Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival is the answer.
