The Best Places for Berkshires, MA Skiing

  1. Ski Butternut

For superb Berkshires skiing, Ski Butternut in Great Barrington, MA is a fantastic choice. Along with downhill skiing and snowboarding, visitors can enjoy snow tubing and terrain parks.  Ski Butternut has 110 skiable acres with 22 downhill trails and 11 lifts.  There is also a sizable coaching and instructional staff for those who are just starting out or want to take their abilities to the next level.  Ski Butternut is located 25 minutes from the Gateways Inn.

  1. Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort

Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in Hancock, MA is a  four-season resort with 45 trails and nine lifts on more than 167 acres.  It is also home to the Berkshire Express, which is a six-passenger high-speed summit lift.  The snowmaking coverage at Jiminy Peak is an astounding 96%, so there will be plenty of snow when you visit for your Berkshires skiing experience. They are located just 30 minutes from the Gateways.

  1. Bousquet Mountain Ski Area

Not only is Bousquet Mountain Ski Area a great choice for Berkshires, MA skiing, but it is also a year-round recreation paradise. In the warmer months, you’ll find water slides, mini golf, and go-carts!  During the winter, the 200-acre ski area has 24 trails, three ski lifts, two magic carpets, and three terrain parks for snowboarders and freestyle skiers. Bousquet is just ten minutes away from the Inn.

  1. Catamount

Just across the border in New York, this ski area has 35 trails that span more than 130 acres. There are also six available lifts to take skiers up the mountain.  If you’re searching for a challenge, the terrain park is suitable for all riders of any skill level! You’ll find Catamount 30 minutes away from the Gateways Inn.

  1. Canterbury Farm Cross Country Skiing

If going downhill isn’t quite your speed, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy other types of Berkshires, MA skiing.  Canterbury Farm offers visitors the opportunity to cross country ski along snowy trails. There are 22 km of groomed trails to blaze. If you’re new to cross-country skiing, you can take a lesson and rent your gear. Canterbury Farm is located 25 minutes from the Inn.

  1. Hilltop Orchards

This Richmond, MA orchard, mainly known for its winery and apple picking, also boasts groomed trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.  One of the trails was designed by Olympian John Morton!  Rentals and guided tours are also available.  Hilltop Orchards is  just 15 minutes from the Gateways
